Empower Simcoe Receives Gold-Level Designation for Workplace Inclusion Leadership

Empower Simcoe is proud to announce it has received the highest honour Gold-Level Designation – for its leadership in advancing workplace inclusion through the Simcoe County Local Immigration Partnership (SCLIP) Workplace Inclusion Charter.

The recognition was presented at the annual Workforce Connect Conference, where employers, community partners, and industry leaders gathered to strengthen workforce development across the region. During the event, the County of Simcoe recognized three local employers – Empower Simcoe, Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, and Hörmann North America Innovative Door Systems – for their ongoing commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable workplaces.

This remarkable achievement reinforces our commitment to belonging,” said Empower Simcoe CEO, Dr. Claudine Cousins. “The Workplace Inclusion Charter is a vital tool in our ongoing efforts to create an environment where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. It strengthens how we integrate Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) into all aspects of our work and relationships.

The Workplace Inclusion Charter is a voluntary, no-cost initiative that provides employers with practical tools, measurable commitments, and recognition opportunities to build more welcoming, diverse, and inclusive workplaces.

By signing the Charter, Empower Simcoe affirms its commitment to:

• Embracing and celebrating diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives
• Treating all employees with respect, fairness, and equity
• Providing equal access to career development and advancement opportunities
• Fostering a safe, respectful workplace free from discrimination, harassment, and bullying
• Supporting employee well-being through initiatives such as mental health resources, work-life balance, and flexible work arrangements

As part of this achievement, Empower Simcoe will soon be featured on WorkInSimcoe.ca as an official Employer Inclusion Champion, helping job seekers identify organizations that prioritize inclusive workplace practices.

Empower Simcoe extends its sincere thanks to the County of Simcoe and SCLIP for this recognition and remains committed to strengthening inclusion across our organization and community.

Giving back makes me feel that I’m contributing a little bit to making life better for other people. It’s my small contribution. I want to make life a little bit easier and happier for people, to know they are loved and cared about and are important.
