Honoured during Empower Simcoe’s 73rd Annual General Meeting on September 24th, 2026, the 2025-2026 Gift of the Heart Recipients are:
Self-Advocate – Jefferson Broomes
Recognized for his steadfast commitment to inclusion and advocacy for the rights of people of all abilities through his involvement with Empower Simcoe’s Believe In Yourself Committee.
Family – Terri Gortnar
Recognized for fostering collaboration, advocacy, and inclusion on behalf of families supported by Empower Simcoe.
Employee – Asia Thompson
Recognized for going above and beyond in her role as Youth Engagement Facilitator, making a lasting and positive impact on the lives of youth supported by Empower Simcoe.
Volunteer – Brenda Winter
Recognized for her exceptional volunteerism and unwavering support of caregivers through Empower Simcoe’s Respitality program.
Community Partner – Georgian College
Recognized for its valued partnership, innovation, and collaboration on initiatives that are helping shape the future of Empower Simcoe’s programs and services.
