Community Support Services

Empowering Adult Lives: Comprehensive Community Support Services

Community Support Services (CSS) provides meaningful supports to approximately 360 adults. CSS helps people find and maintain leisure/recreational activities/competitive employment and transition out of high school and into adulthood. We are located in both Barrie and Orillia, Ontario.

Criteria:

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must have an intellectual disability
  • Must be referred by Developmental Services Ontario
Day Services

Our Day Services offer a variety of engaging and enriching activities that promote personal growth, social interaction, and community involvement for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Employment Support services
Employment Support Services provide personalized assistance to help individuals with intellectual disabilities secure and maintain meaningful, competitive employment in their community.
Transition Services

Transition Support helps young adults with intellectual disabilities smoothly navigate the shift from high school to adulthood, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed for a successful future.

Day Services 

Community Support Services – Day Services assists individuals in finding leisure/recreational activities and/or volunteer placements. A Community Support Worker provides support where necessary; to enhance the person’s smooth transition into community based leisure and volunteer placements.

Other components of the service include:

Empower Simcoe has 2 day service sites, 40 Fraser Court in Barrie and 35 West Street in Orillia. The sites are open Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30pm.

Employment Support Services

Building Pathways to Meaningful Employment

Employment Support Services assists people in finding competitive employment and/or job shadowing opportunities. An Employment Support Services Coordinator will provide on the job training, assistance and evaluation where needed to facilitate the person’s transition into the community work force.

Transition Services

Empowering youth & young adults for success

Our Transition Coordinators provide comprehensive support and resources to individuals, their families, schools, and community agencies. We assess skills and abilities, explore interests through the Individual Support Plan, and work towards enhancing decision-making, problem-solving, and daily living skills.

Our goal is to assist individuals in planning, setting, and achieving their personal goals with clear timelines.

Criteria for Service:
Person has been diagnosed with an intellectual disability
High-School Aged Youth

Services are available on a fee-for-service basis, with fees due after booking and prior to service commencement. For detailed information about accessing our Residential Respite services, or to discuss the suitability of this option for your loved one, please contact our Respite Coordinator at 705-726-9082 ext. 2259. This contact point will also guide you through any additional assessments required to tailor the respite experience to your specific needs.
