Empower Simcoe at OASIS 2025

From April 30 to May 2, Empower Simcoe was proud to be well represented at the 2025 Ontario Agencies Supporting Individuals with Special Needs (OASIS) Conference, held at beautiful Blue Mountain Resort and Conference Centre in Collingwood.

With the inspiring theme Climbing Higher – Investing in Tomorrow, Today, this year’s conference brought together leaders, innovators, and change-makers from across the Developmental Services sector. Attendees engaged in a dynamic program that featured thought-provoking keynote addresses, interactive breakout sessions, in-depth workshops, and panel discussions focused on building a stronger, more inclusive future for individuals with developmental disabilities.

One of the conference highlights was the closing keynote address by Olympic silver medalist and mental health advocate Elizabeth Manley, who shared her powerful personal journey and inspired attendees to continue advocating for resilience and mental wellness in our communities.

Empower Simcoe CEO, Dr. Claudine Cousins—currently serving as the Chair of the OASIS Board of Directors—had the distinguished honour of serving as Master of Ceremonies throughout the event. Her leadership and vision set the tone for a memorable and impactful gathering.

Dr. Cousins was joined by our dedicated team of Empower Simcoe Directors, Managers, Supervisors, and Senior Support Workers who actively participated in sessions, networked with sector leaders, and collaborated with peers from across the province. Together, they explored emerging trends, shared best practices, and discussed innovative strategies to shape the future of developmental services in Ontario.

Empower Simcoe is proud to be part of the ongoing dialogue and commitment to enhancing the quality of life for people of all abilities. The insights and connections gained at OASIS 2025 will help drive our mission forward—today and into tomorrow.

Giving back makes me feel that I’m contributing a little bit to making life better for other people. It’s my small contribution. I want to make life a little bit easier and happier for people, to know they are loved and cared about and are important.
