Discover Support and Fun at Empower Simcoe’s Sibshops for Siblings

Sibshops are designed just for siblings (ages 8 to 13) of kids and youth with disabilities or developmental needs. This group is specifically for kids who do not have developmental needs themselves. It’s a chance to have fun, make new friends, and talk about what it’s like to have a sibling with a disability or developmental need.

Event Details:

  • Date: October 25th, 2024
  • Time: 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Location: 40 Fraser Court, Barrie, ON
  • Cost: $10

What to Expect:

  • Play engaging games and participate in exciting activities
  • Meet new friends who understand the challenges and joys of having a sibling with a disability
  • Share personal experiences, both the good and the tough, in a supportive environment
  • Learn strategies to handle challenging situations with the help of peers and facilitators
  • Laugh, talk, and bond with others through fun group interactions

What You Need to Know:

  • Participants are expected to actively engage, listen, and follow directions.
  • Children should be able to work independently with minimal assistance.

Giving back makes me feel that I’m contributing a little bit to making life better for other people. It’s my small contribution. I want to make life a little bit easier and happier for people, to know they are loved and cared about and are important.
