In 2023, Empower Simcoe’s Lakeshore Ridge Treatment Home opened its doors, welcoming Kaitlyn as one of its very first residents. Kaitlyn’s arrival marked a significant milestone in her life, as she transitioned from a mental health facility where she had lived for more than two years. Due to the lack of appropriate community housing that could meet her long-term support needs, Kaitlyn had previously been designated as requiring an alternative level of care. Her move to Lakeshore Ridge brought renewed optimism and hope and the chance to begin a transformative new chapter in her life.
When Kaitlyn arrived at Lakeshore in March 2023, she faced understandable challenges as she adjusted to her new environment. A comprehensive wraparound support plan was quickly put in place, including dedicated 1:1 staffing, the guidance of a behaviour consultant, collaboration with Waypoint’s outpatient psychiatric team, and the unwavering love and encouragement of her family. With programming and protocols tailored specifically to her needs, Kaitlyn was equipped with the tools to succeed.
Through determination and the steadfast support of her team, Kaitlyn made tremendous progress. Her dedication to personal growth and positive behaviour change helped her achieve her treatment goals and build confidence for the future. What began as a period of transition soon became a journey of empowerment and transformation.
Today, Kaitlyn has successfully transitioned to her forever home within Empower Simcoe – a remarkable milestone that reflects her resilience, hard work, and the power of compassionate support.
