Empower Simcoe Shines in Support of NDEAM

We look good in purple! On October 19, Empower Simcoe was thrilled to participate in the nationwide Light It Up! For NDEAM campaign in honour of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

Every October, this initiative unites organizations coast-to-coast in illuminating buildings and landmarks in vibrant shades of purple and blue to celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity in the workplace.

The Light It Up! For NDEAM campaign serves as a visual reminder that every person, regardless of their abilities, has a valuable role to play in the workforce. It encourages conversations about disability employment and promotes practices that create equal opportunities for all.

By adding its light to this collective effort, Empower Simcoe emphasizes the importance of embracing individuals of all abilities, ensuring access to inclusive, barrier-free work environments and employment processes.

NDEAM

It Was Lit.

Empower Simcoe’s administration buildings at 39 Fraser Ct., Barrie and 35 West St., Orillia shone bright in purple and blue on October 19!

As we wore purple and blue, and lit up our buildings, we contributed to raising awareness in our communities about the value of diverse and inclusive workplaces.

A big thank you to all who participated and to those who assisted with lighting! We’re looking forward to a bigger and brighter celebration next year!

Giving back makes me feel that I’m contributing a little bit to making life better for other people. It’s my small contribution. I want to make life a little bit easier and happier for people, to know they are loved and cared about and are important.
