Our Newest Empower Simcoe Location

Empower Simcoe is proud to announce the nearing completion and launch of its new Transition Program, a pivotal development designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities.

This unfunded, transitional housing initiative aims to provide a nurturing environment that encourages independence through tailored skills development.

Located in Orillia, the Transition Program represents a significant commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. Constructed by Bertram Construction, who was selected after a rigorous public tender process, this facility began taking shape in January 2023 and was ready for occupancy by February 2024.

The new residence features a six-bedroom layout with exceptional accessibility considerations, including four fully accessible bedrooms on the main level, each equipped with a private bathroom. Two of these bathrooms are enhanced with bathtubs to accommodate various needs. The main floor also houses a communal kitchen, living/dining area, and a laundry room, while the lower level includes additional living spaces, a second kitchen, and more bedrooms, all accessible via an exterior, enclosed stairwell.

Designed with independence in mind, the entire building is equipped with modern safety features such as a comprehensive sprinkler system, continuous monitoring, and a backup generator to ensure uninterrupted power. As we prepare for the final touches, including the installation of furniture and appliances, we look forward to opening our doors and enriching the lives of our future residents.

Giving back makes me feel that I’m contributing a little bit to making life better for other people. It’s my small contribution. I want to make life a little bit easier and happier for people, to know they are loved and cared about and are important.
