Calling all Unpaid Caregivers in Simcoe County. The 2024 Respitality Program is open for applications November 27 – December 31, 2023
What is Respitality? Respite + Hospitality = Respitality
Empower Simcoe and our business and community partners recognize the significant impact Unpaid Caregivers have in providing exceptional care for their loved-ones and the extra responsibilities that come with this role. Respitality offers selected Unpaid Caregivers to experience a well-deserved break provided, free of charge, through the generous donations of businesses in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry as well as through grants and personal donations from members of the community. Respitality offers flexible choices for Unpaid Caregivers to build a break that is meaningful for them. A Respitality Experience may consist of one or more of the following:
- An overnight stay at a resort or hotel
- Gift card for dining, recreation, events or attractions
- Gift card or voucher for spa/wellness services
- …and more
Criteria for eligibility:
- Unpaid Caregiver is a parent or legal guardian providing full-time live-in care; and
- Person(s) receiving care have a formal diagnosis of Intellectual Disability or if under age 5 a Global Developmental Delay; and
- Unpaid Caregiver lives in Simcoe County
Empower Simcoe would like to be able to meet the needs of all who apply, however due to the number of resources available, Unpaid Caregivers who meet eligibility will be placed into a lottery system to allocate Respitality. Selected Unpaid Caregivers will be notified throughout the 2024 calendar year. The number of Respitality Experiences provided is determined by the donations received.
