New Adventures Summer Camp is a program that provides young people with the opportunity to expand their communication, social, leisure, work and life skills while participating in community projects. New Adventures is broken into one week sessions, each with a unique focus. Each week includes one great day trip, cool activities and practical learning experiences.
These amazing summer sessions are designed to provide youth aged 14-21 years with the opportunity to expand their social, recreational and independent living skills while learning about who they are! Examples of these skills include how to effectively take city transit, preparing and cooking a meal, nutrition and money management!
Empower Simcoe makes every effort to provide supports that meet the needs of all individuals. The youth program offers a 1:4 ratio during all summer sessions, if a 1:1 Support Worker is required for a youth to participate this must be arranged by the family.
In order for a family-employed Support Worker to accompany a youth to this program, that Support Worker must either:
1 – Submit a Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that has been completed within the last 90 days from the time of submission, or
2 – Must be a screened CHAP worker (Community Helper for Active Participation) through supportyourway.ca/respiteservices.com
Confirmation must be provided at the time of registration that the 1:1 support worker meets the above criteria
