From Job Readiness to Stable Success: Colin’s Inspiring Path of Growth and Passion
In 2014, Colin first joined our job readiness program. Following that, he was supported through our Employment Support Program, where he secured his first job as a Store Associate at Dollar Tree. Initially reserved, Colin’s confidence grew, enabling him to connect with customers and coworkers. His reliability and work ethic made him an indispensable team member.
Colin’s determination led him to obtain his G1 license, and he later proudly earned his full G license, purchasing his first car. During the pandemic, Colin took the time to reflect and discovered a newfound passion for working with horses.
During the pandemic Colin used this time to reflect and explore many other options and interests. During this time of exploration Colin expressed a desire to work with horses.
With our support, Colin enrolled in the Ontario Equine Education and Employment Program through the University of Guelph. Through hard work, he earned his certificate, opening doors to the equine industry. Today, Colin thrives as a Stable Hand at Woodwinds South, where his love for horses and exceptional work ethic shine.
Beyond the stables, Colin is an avid baseball and fishing enthusiast. He’s diligently saving for his own fishing boat, a testament to his determination and independence. Colin is also a skilled curler, earning a spot at the Nationals in Calgary for Special Olympics.
Colin’s journey exemplifies resilience, determination, and self-discovery. It demonstrates that with the right support, individuals can overcome any obstacle. Colin’s story is an inspiration, reminding us that with the right mindset, anything is possible.
We’re immensely proud to have been part of Colin’s remarkable journey and look forward to his future achievements.
