First Steps Program Now at EarlyON for Newcomer Parents and Children

The vibrant ‘First Steps: Newcomer Parent and Child Programming‘ at EarlyON Child & Family Centres has officially kicked off, opening doors to a world of opportunities for newcomer families in our community. This exciting initiative, crafted by the minds at CFS Counselling & Wellbeing, CAPC and Empower Simcoe, is perfectly customized for families with children up to the age of six. Initially launched on April 5th, 2024, the program welcomes families once a week for 8 weeks at the welcoming EarlyON center at 129 Ferris Lane, Barrie, ON.

Designed as a comprehensive support network, First Steps aids newcomer families in weaving seamlessly into the community fabric while providing a warm, nurturing environment conducive to the healthy growth and development of children. The program spotlights play-based and early learning activities that encourage children to explore and grow within a supportive framework.

Participants gain access to a suite of benefits including insights into child development, robust parental support, and connections to vital community resources. The program also offers nutritional guidance and opportunities for families to meet and build relationships, fostering a robust community network.

For more information about the program or help signing up when it runs next, please reach out to Noor Siddiqui at nsiddiqui@cfssc.ca.

First Steps is eagerly continuing to welcome newcomers, ensuring it remains an invaluable asset for families looking to thrive in their new environment.

Giving back makes me feel that I’m contributing a little bit to making life better for other people. It’s my small contribution. I want to make life a little bit easier and happier for people, to know they are loved and cared about and are important.
