Orange Shirt Day 2024 at Empower Simcoe

Honouring Truth, Promoting Awareness

On September 30th, Empower Simcoe wore orange to recognize National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, more commonly known as Orange Shirt Day.

It’s a day when we honour Residential School Survivors and Indigenous children who were sent to Residential Schools and never made it home.  Wearing an orange shirt and using the slogan Every Child Matters is an affirmation of our commitment to raise awareness of the Residential School experience in Canada.  As an agency committed to inclusion and acceptance in a world where people of all abilities can learn, engage, and speak up on important issues, including racism and prejudice, we encourage you to continue this important discussion every day of the year.
